Custom folder icons & desktop tiles for your Mac
Happy Folders lets you draw, sticker and animate your own Mac desktop icons, then make them do things. A built-in vector editor, animated GIF tiles, any shape you like. macOS 13+, life-time $14.99, no subscription.
The default Mac folder is a blue blob
Twelve identical blue folders. You read the tiny labels every single time. Your desktop has no personality, and no joy.
Custom icons fix the look. Happy Folders fixes the look and makes each icon useful.
Draw your own
The built-in editor has a pen, airbrush, shapes and gradient fills. Everything saves as re-editable vector SVG, so it stays crisp at any size and you can tweak it forever.
Stickers & animated tiles
- Drop in any PNG, SVG or animated GIF / WebP / APNG and it plays right on your desktop.
- Sticker borders hug your art's real outline (proper die-cut look, not a square box).
- Clicks pass through the empty pixels around your art, so tiles feel like real objects.
Any shape, labels anywhere
Folder, squircle, circle, capsule or the exact silhouette of your drawing. Put the label above, beside, on top, or tilt it. Your desktop, your rules.
Icons that also do things
This is what a “Get Info” icon swap can't do: a Happy Folders tile opens what it points to. One click can launch a folder, a few apps and a link together. See how one click opens a whole workspace →
Share or sell your desktop packs
Export your tiles, art and wallpaper into a single .happy file. Gift it to a friend, sell it to your audience, or grab packs from artists you love. A preview shows every tile before anything lands.

Custom Mac icon FAQ
How do I change a folder icon on a Mac?
Copy an image, select the folder, press ⌘I (Get Info), click the small icon at the top-left, and paste with ⌘V. For editable, animated, clickable desktop icons, Happy Folders gives each tile its own art and actions.
Can I use animated icons on my Mac desktop?
macOS won't animate normal folder icons, but Happy Folders will: drop in an animated GIF, WebP or APNG and the tile plays on your desktop.
Can I draw my own Mac desktop icons?
Yes. The built-in editor (pen, shapes, gradient fills) saves as re-editable vector SVG, so you can draw your own and tweak them anytime.
